What do I need to do to get a dealers license?

I live in Illinois and just recently opened an auto repair shop. I am interested in getting a dealers license to buy/sell cars. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do and some possible pros/cons of having a dealers license?

pros- you can buy cars cheap cons- you can have dmv looking down your throat.Insurance is expensive
go to dmv and ask them about the dealers license
