My friend had two alcoholic parents. One died from alcoholism at 45, the other is in out of jail because of drunk driving.

My friend is 24 and has been drinking a lot since high school, she has slept with guys she doesn't know when she is drunk and doesn't remember them.

She blacks out and sometimes gets overly flirty with her husband's friends.

She doesn't drink during the week, but drinks a lot on the weekends. She drinks 3 or 4 beers to start with and then drinks jack daniels with coke until she is being loud and obnoxious.

Her husband thinks she has been drinking more since they hit the rocks.

Do you think this behavior is a problem? This is what she does EVERY weekend. She will not hang out with her friends without drinking. She gets defensive about her drinking and says she is just hanging out and having fun.

Anytime you do something in excess (whether it's once a week, or everyday) it IS a problem. I suggest you get your friend some help!

Yes, I'd say that she has a problem, and needs help. The first thing is that her husband, and friends should sit down and plan an intervention. Most drunks refuse to admit that they are drunks. Try and get her to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Once she can admit to herself that she is an alcoholic, and needs help, she can start on the road to sobriety. Until then, just keep trying.

That kind of drinking is a huge problem. She sounds like a closet alcoholic. It also sounds like she drinks to get away from whatever hurt she is experiencing.

Until your friend wants help there really isn't much you can do accept be there for her and be her friend.

it's alright to drink on the weekends and have a good time but she needs to learn how to control herself and when she has reached her limit maybe sometimes when you feel like she's had enough start switching out her jack and coke with just regular coke or gradually decrease the amount of jack that goes into each drink as she refills each time

She has a serious problem and as her friend you need to help her. Whether she realizes it or not, she is an alcoholic...Granted its probably related to her parents and being around that, but you need to do an intervention with her before she hurts herself or worse someone else.

Binge drinking any time is a problem. Most alcoholics have more excuses for their drinking than there are drinks.

NO. Unless the drinking effects their everyday lives to a serious degree.

yes her binge drinking is very much a problem and if she continue she could very well end up getting alcohol poison from this kind of abuse.
