After searching around in places like Home Depot and Loews, I could only find shower heads that used 2.5 gallons per minute, and all of these resulted ina very mild pressure shower. Without redoing the whole shower plumbing system, is there a way to tweak a shower head, or buy a shower head, that will deliver more water faster? The only thing I've tried so far is to plug up some of the holes, resulting in very slightly higher pressure from the other holes.

Very simple....All shower heads sold nowadays are made to conserve water. If you unscrew the head from the part that attaches to the pipe, you will see small hole in the head. That regulates the amount of water through the head. I "always" take a drill and drill the hole bigger. Start with a bit alittle bigger than the hole. Work your way up to bigger bit each time you drill the hole till you get the desired size to give the amount of pressure you want. Works every time.

take the shower head you have and soak it in a solution of 50% white vinegar and hot water over night clean the holes out with an old toothbrush and re install, you`d be surprised at what is inside the one you have and blocking the flow of water.
