I don`t think it burned

There is a plug between the laptop monitor and the power supply that is internal to the laptop. You would need to open the laptop up in order to check if the plug is fully plugged in. What you described had actually happened to one of my friends. He called HP (he had a HP laptop) and they wanted him to pay $500 in order to get it fixed. He then gave the laptop to his mechanic friend who knew nothing about laptop to play around with it (long story why did it). His mechanic friend took the whole laptop apart and discovered what I just told you. He then put everything back together and the laptop monitor lit up when it was turned on.

use the function key on your laptop to make sure you are using your lcd instead of external monitor. the function key is different for each laptop model. This you need to find out yourself
