Interesting question. When the Pilgrims left England they were fleeing religious persecution. The funny thing is, they ended up instituting the very same religious tenacity once they became colonized in New England.

It does seem that the idea of religious freedom, that was a focus of our founding fathers has been stressed just a bit. Outspoken Conservative Christians seem to think that their way is the only correct way to run things and their point of view is the only valid point of view that should be represented.

No. Last I looked, we don't have to support the Church of England, or any church for that matter. I'm not Christain, & no govt representative has ever visited me to try to force me to convert.
