They get into each others face and vibrate or wave there front legs. Can anyone please explain this behaivor to me?

It's both a mating behaviour and also a territorial behaviour. It's called fanning.

It could have something to do with mating. (we've had male cats mount other male cats, so animals don't always get it right) I do remember seeing that on TV once though. Two red-eared turtles went face to face and almost seemed to be playing patty-cake or something....I wouldn't worry about it though.

Yeah, I've been looking around on some sites, and all I can find is forums, so it's other people's opinions, but they all say the same - mating ritual. (I don't think they're fighting at all like mentioned below - females have been kept together for years without problems)

Are you sure they're females? Males will do that as a mating/dominance display, but I'm not sure if females do it too or not.
