What do you give instead? Gum? A lecture? Advice? Fruit?

There were a few ultra christians in the neighborhood that I used to live in. One gave christian pamphlets to the kids & the other just hid in their basement with the lights out.
Kinda silly, since it is nothing like the pagan rite it was.....

we got 2 lots of £1 each
one person gave us a flashing ball and a plastic ant each
one gave us a lecture on how we shouldn't say 'trick or treat' because this is SCOTLAND and we shouldn't copy the Americans then gave us a lecture about our clothes then left us for 15mins (well it felt like it) while she went away and EVENTUALLY came back with some mouldy fruit
others gave us fruit and monkey nuts and crisps

Nope, I'm always out trick or treating with my daughter, so we don't give any out. I live in a duplex, my next door neighbor sits in front with the candy so I'm covered against eggs and TP as well.

I give out glow in the dark bracelets, ect.... The kids seem to love them. Plus it helps keep them safe :)

one year i gave out canned goods...beans, fruit, etc. i'd been out of town and arrived home just as the trick or treaters began to arrive....i felt bad but they thought it was cool and it gave them something to tell every one.

I live in a condo and there are no children living there, so I do not get any trick or treaters....therefore I give out nothing....cheers!
