Initially the Childlike Empress has no name, but is later given her name, Moon Child (German Mondenkind), by Bastian Balthazar Bux. The Empress is given a new name by each human child who visits Fantastica, so in fact she did have a name before Moon Child but it was given to her so long ago that it was forgotten by the people and creatures of Fantastica. It is only possible to meet the Childlike Empress once in one's life, but subsequent names allow for "subsequent" meetings, each of which is really the first (this fact is a secret from Fantasticans, known only to humans who have visited their world). She is also addressed by the title, "Golden-Eyed Commander of Wishes".

You aren't supposed to know...it is the whole point. You are supposed to use your imagination...give the childlike empress a name by yourself, and therefore keep Fantasia alive. :)
