No chance of 66 being forgotten until we win the World Cup again. No chance of that until we find a decent manager.

I never tire of hearing about "66"". It was the greatest moment in English football history. Great manager and a great team. Even in today's modern game I think Banks, Wilson, Moore, Greaves, Charlton and Ball would walk into any team. They played good attacking football, had a good system and played as a team. They were immensely patriotiic. Some of them may not have been the best players in England at the time but they worked so well together and for each other. I fear we will never enjoy such success again. We need a Ramsay or Clough type character to take over who is not just tactically good but can get the best out of the players. We need players who can play together as a unit not a bunch of individuals many of whom think they are better than they are.

66 was England's big year. Since then things have not gone as well and though England has had chances, they have not done it. So until they do people will stick to that success.

Why not remember the time when you reached the pinnacle, it's better than talking about when we didn't qualify for USA 94 or the time we were managed under Sven.

No, no, keep mentioning it.
In Scotland we never tire of the event being attached to anything from table-tennis to bags of cement.
