The interpretation was fabricated. Along with the cherry picking of the "sound bite".

Never mind, here's the answer from Fox's website: "Massachusetts Democrat touches off firestorm with remark to students that doing poorly in school is sure ticket to Iraq"
Now, did Kerry say that doing poorly in school is sure ticket to Iraq? No, he did not. A fair&balanced interpretation would be, "Kerry made this remark.....Kerry, what did you mean by this remark?" But conservatives want to tell you, "That's not what he meant, I'LL tell you what he meant!"

"If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me, who's been fighting my entire career to provide for veterans, to fight for their benefits, to help honor what their service is, if anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops serving in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, they're crazy," he said.

They'll show a truncated clip of Kerry's speech, then and extended clip of Tony Snow's indignant reaction then they'll show Kerry's follow up news conference while a Fox commentator talks over it.

As usual I would imagine. They think the American Bald Eagle has two right wings.
Kerry put his foot in his mouth, no argument. So that's one for Kerry, and how many hundred for Bush?
Unlike Bush, Kerry is a combat veteran, so I'm sure his comment, which I have only seen out of context, was not intended to insult troops serving in Iraq. As for an apology, if he feels he insulted the troops, he will apologize, if as I took it he meant that if you are an uninformed voter you will end up with cheerleaders like Bush sending you overseas to die he probably will not. If Bush is insulted, good, he deserves to be in prison, not just insulted.

The fabricated incident was Kerry stating "You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
~~ ~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Kerry’s troop remarks belie the truth about the educational level of U.S. troops. According to figures readily available on the Internet, 99.9 percent of the enlisted forces have at least a high school education, 73.3 percent have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree.
What’s more, over 85 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.

What cherry picking, the scumbag had to follow up his "joke" by explaining it to everyone because as always Kerry's contempt for our military has come to light, he accused them of torture and all kinds of atrocities in Nam, not a few but a systematic problem, then he claimed they were terrorizing women and children in the night in Iraq, now this C student who got worse grades then Bush, is going to lecture us on the values of an education. Our soldiers are smarter then 99% of all Democrats, they know you can't roll over and make nice with Islamofasicts,Iran or N. Korea.

FABRICATED?! I saw the video. I expected you liberals to dismiss this as a mistake or a mis-speak, but to actually say that Fox made it up, is the best one I've seen today!
And how, pray tell, did they "fabricate" it? Did they have a reporter holding a gun to Kerry's head that we can't see on the video? Was this a "trick" by Kerry for Halloween? Did they edit the video and make it LOOK like Kerry is saying this stuff? I KNOW!! Cheney is mastermind behind it and Kerry is just his puppet! That's it! That's the ticket!

ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS will not mention it.
CNN will not report on it anymore than they have already so those this evening won`t know it happened.
FOX will report on it truthfully and nothing else. That is why they are the Largest Cable news network. Larger than CNN and MSNBC combined.
Also why the Left doesn`t want you to watch it.
By the way Kerry, you can`t even get in the military without a HS Degree. As the Super smart guy you want us to believe you are you`d think you would know that.

You are destroying any little bit of credibility you may have, by trying to justify Kerry. Actually, I hope the democrats do try that tactic.... that way they will follow him off the cliff he jumped from today.

I'd be willing to bet that Fox News Channel will tell us the whole story without putting the sickening liberal spin on it that the other channels like CNN and MSNBC do. Fox isn't in the liberal's pockets like the others and they tend to tell the truth, like what a dispicable piece of trash Kerry really is.

I don't know, but it wasn't fabricated. He said it. Then instead of just saying, "it came out wrong" he makes a stupid excuse that doesn't make sense. The Dems would be FAR better off if they put a muzzle on Kerry.
Incorrect. I listened to the whole thing. The newspapers are misrepresenting that he was discussing Bush just prior to that remark. He was not.
Edit: Yes that's what he said:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
