After I burned a song onto a disc and window poped up saying........."you have authorized a total number of 1 machines out of your available 5" I don't understand what this means?

You have authorized one computer to play your iTunes Music Store purchases... probably the one you just installed iTunes on. If you want to play those songs on another PC, they will have to be authorized as well. You can only authorize 5 computers to play your Music Store purchases.

iTunes Store purchases can be authorized in iTunes to play on up to five computers. Deauthorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can play purchased music, videos, audiobooks, or other content.
