Because Americans think they are god and therefore believe that everyone should bow down to them. They usually have a very big shock when they venture out into the world and see that not everybody worships them like gods.

First, as an American, I feel saddened by the fact that most people around the world view us as arrogant and egocentric. We are a very giving and generous country. We have strong ties to the United Kingdom and some of us appreciate the relationship we have today. The idea that we saved everyone from the Germans in WWII is, to some extent, correct. But, more than anything, it was a combination of factors that allowed a more democratic group of people to triumph over fascism, i.e. Hitler's arrogance, Russia's sacrificial stand... Anyway, back to the point, I believe that we come to UK web pages to share points of view, ideas, and information, as the Internet should be utilised. The fact that UK people poke fun at us Americans is perfectly normal. Different cultures and the practise thereof can be funny in comparison to your own. It is just natural to make what is of you "normal" and that of others "strange". We all have to share the world we live in and the best opportunity we have to form those bonds that facilitate our coexistence is the Internet. We should celebrate our differences and delight in our similarities.

I think many Americans go to the UK pages because they want to interact and learn about people from other countries (and they speak English). So when you then find these people making fun of and disrepecting Americans they feel angry and betrayed because they may have been trying to be friendly. Imagine if you came on the US pages and found people talking trash about your country. It's human nature to get angry at that.

The pages in the English language are the same all over the world, so us, the Aussies, the US and anyone else who wants to converse in English will get the same questions.

I am going to answer your question with a question, why do some people from different walks of life and different places in life need to be so rude to each other?? People are human and need to be treated like humans!! This world would be a better place if they did,
Have a wonderful day,, and try to be nice to others

Why does everyone else hit the US pages? Getting IM 100 times from apu in India isn't alot of fun either. To everyone else who has something negative to say to Americans, if we are so awful why do so many of you still come to my country?

I love Americans! But the 'you would be speaking German if it was not for us' Is CRAP! It took you two years to even notice we needed help! Then along came pearl Harbour (UK spelling!) and so bless your cotton socks you decided to 'help' the Mother country. I am grateful but you did it for yourselves not the UK!
The Japs stopped us from speaking German because without pearl harbour we would have been waiting a lot longer than two years for your 'help'.
