Only the people who do not have children of their own would think it is stupid. I live in the middle of the Ozarks and two years ago the news talked about how someone put pills in the middle of some soft candy. My husband and I took our 2 year old to a holloween trick or treating event in our town (the mall is a bit to crowded) My husband will take her to our in-laws tonight and to two neighbors that we know very well and that is it. People do not care about your kids and their safety. If someone will shoot kids in their school they are not above putting something in their candy.

Well, it depends on your personal situation. If you have children then going to the mall is appropriate instead of going house to house cause that is very dangerous these days. Now, if you are an adult then you probably shouldn't be trick or treating anyways unless you are particpating with children that need supervision.

Hum...I'm with Becca. My kids are in their 20s & 30s now and I used to take them to the Mall back then. It is safer, and if I recall, the shops gave out some righteous good treats for the most part.

It is annoying-especially to the people who work there.
It may be safer that door to door. BUT, those stores are there to make money. They give out candy as PR. (I worked retail for years).
If you want a safe place for your kids to go, see if your local churches are having "trunk or treat". My kids love it b/c they see their friends & l like it b/c there is a lot in a compact area w/o traffic.

Ya going to the mall is pretty much stupid. Your supposed to going around your neighborhood and other 'hoods to get your loot.

I do not trick or treat but free stuff does have it's appeal.

it is a whole lot safer than the city street`s and neighbor hood`s ,if you just have to go,that would be a very good place
