I was really into the paranormal for a long time (and still am); if anything, I wanted to pursue a college education in Parapsychology. The sad truth is that it's nonexistant. I believe that there is a school in England that offers a Parapsychology major, however, I haven't heard of one in the states. I would recommend majoring in Psychology, and then going to pursue an M.A. or a Ph.D.; in grad school, you may be able to pursue some kind of independent study program. Most "demonologists" are psychologists, as it is a branch of psychology and the interpretation of such. There is no "starting salary"; in fact, I think most people researching the paranormal are doing it strictly for hobby, or, as stated before, some kind of academic research at the graduate level. Hope this helps.

I do not believe demonologists are sanctioned by a learning institute, but a religious one.
I have heard from the show Ghost Hunters that there is something like only 10 official demonologists in the world.
You would need, probably, to study at a college that offers a parapsychology department/major. In this case you would study physics, psychology, technical equipment for recording, and the like in your courses.
For more on Demonology and being a Demonologist, you may want to ask the members of the Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) how a couple of them did it. Dont' know the website, but it would be an easy google.
P.S. - I believe that MIT offers a parapsychology major.

It is not the classes that you take -- it is the school that you go to. If you really want to be a Demonologist -- you have to go to The University of California, Sunnydale.
Take as many classes as possible with Professor Maggie Walsh.

Take as many religion courses you can. Because you can't learn about the devils and demons if you don't learn their origins and history. After a while of the classes express interest of demonology and religion mythical studies and how you would like to major in that. Really all Demonology is, is just studying Religion folklore and mythology. Need to learn the basics first and talk to the teacher about getting into what you want to do if you can pass the basic classes first.
