They are small differences. Europe is a little more towards the socialistic side while America is not as much. If 10 was capitalism and 0 was socialism, some places in Europe would be a 4 while America would be a 6. Were moving that way. The basic difference is how much the government interacts with its citizens.

There are basically degrees of capitalism. There is socialism posing as capitalism in most of Europe and Asia. In the U.S. we have a mixed economy that is gradually socializing. On the other extreme is the ideological form of capitalism that operates completely free of government interference, which is known as laissez-faire. A capitalist system with no government at all (my personal preference) would be called anarcho-capitalist.

I do suppose you mean differences? The main difference in the geographical areas is the relationship between the private and public sector. In other words the influence of the state on economic affairs. In very general terms one could say that in the English speaking world the influence on economic and social affairs is kept to a minimum. In Europe states the influence on economic and social affairs was bigger (Rhineland model). In the 90's Europe has moved to a more laissez-faire direction (Anglo-Saxon model). In many Asian countries the state has a big influence on economic and social affairs like Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Thailand.
