i belong to an online club called writebuzz (email:writebuzz.co.uk) who you subscribe to for about £15 a year, and they set competitions for story writers/poets..etc to submit their own work & share with others of the same interest. the site tells you how to publish your own stories & how to go about doing it...all very helpful stuff!! you dont even have to enter the competitions to submit your work, you can just put it onto the website for others to read & give you feedback for! ive won a tiffany lamp for a poem i wrote, its good fun!
hope it helps hun xx

Buy The Writer's and Artists' Yearbook OR The Writer's Handbook - they'll tell you how to go about it!

They both cost about £14.99

If a publisher accepts your work (be prepared to be rejected a few times!) if it isn't vanity publishing - you shouldn't have to pay anything as the publisher will do it all for you!

I've done this 3 times - work until I have enough money to support myself for desired period - I usually pick 6 months. Then I habitually move country - set myself up with a place to live and just write for 6 months. While I'm working I read novels, write synopsis, notes and draft text & work on it in earnest when I move until its done. I have now 3 unpublished novellas. Going for gold this time - and the city I choose for this project in 2007 - Buenos Aires. Don't give up ever. C u there!

Just start writing!!! Try to be more grammatically correct than the sentences you just wrote. That is a turn off to publishers.
The rest will come to you gradually. Check out publishing companies on the web.

initially decide what you want to write about and research the genre...there are many ways to go about it, although the wannabe writer market is really saturated...

costs depend on your work and chances of success depend on its quality - it is not a get rich quick fix!

use a search engine - GOOD LUCK!
