Do you mean side pass or leg yield? To get a horse to leg yield, as you're coming out of the short side of the arena and going down the longside, turn down the quarter line (before you get to the end of the short side). Keep your horse going straight and support with the outside rein. When you're ready (after 1 or 2 strides) apply inside leg to drive her sideways. Make sure you keep supporting with the outside rein so she doesn't just fall through and go in a diagonal line to get to the wall. It'll feel a bit wierd at first, but keep trying, you'll get it.

If your wanting a side pass, I'd start from a halt, then just nudge her over with your leg. Keep her from moving forward with the reins. If she takes a little step forward at first it's ok, don't get mad, just keep trying. Good luck, hope this helps.

If you mean like a dressage side step what u should do is open ur outside rein the one u want her to side step into and push her with ur inside leg. it works really well for my horse. in a sidestep or leg yeild the horse is kinda supposed to move forward but to the side at the same time. also she may not want to do it. like some one else said some horses like to do certain things and hate other things. so if she wont even try it then just leave it alone. I hope u can get her to do it! Good Luck!!!!!!!

i agree with Carson's answers except that the most important thing of all was left out. She needs to be taught to leg yield FIRST because side passing is half leg yielding. Make sure that she knows how to do that.

if she wont even try then she probably wont do it at all, some horses are born to do specific things, some are runners (like my baby) some are jumpers, it all depends on the horse.
