I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have." - John Kerry press release

Well, where was this fire in 2004, when he really needed it?

When he was under attack by the Swift Boat squad, he remained curiously silent.

He implied that if you are uneducated you end up in Iraq as a military guy. Clearly insulting and a very stupid thing to say on the "eve" of very important elections.

btw-- the stats in response above are Air Force stats and not representative of the military in general. Although, I presume that a HS diploma (or GED) is the minimum one needs to enlist (just a guess). And, most officers would likely have a Bachelors degree as well-- again, an assumption.

My only regret is that we needed THIS John Kerry in 2004. He would have won by a margin that would have made the Repuke's Diebold and other crooked tactics irrelevant. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

The problem with John Kerry is that he doesnt dumb things down for his constituents.Every time I hear him speak I am truly amazed that republicans hate with a passion that should be reserved for our enemy. He has so much to so say that is logical and informed. He just uses big words and has no catchy phrases.

Mentioning 'stupid' and Iraq in the same sentence is a clear sign of untruthyness.

It is banned from the acceptable patriotic list of things that can be fit in single-sentence proximity in public.

It is an official (by executive order) 'offence to the troops'.

You are so right...Atleast Kerry served ..he was not AWOL like dubyah, and getting deferral like cheyney did 3 times... These guys are to co much of a coward to put themselves in harm's way (Bush & cheney) ..They want to have every other poor to middle class killed..You may find a few rich kids over their but...Not many...Why is it oaky if one american dies in this fabricated war of choice.....In retrospect..It is probably good cheney wasn't in vietnam...He would have notched over a thousand kills ...Only the people he would have shot would have been americans...because they were not where supposed to be...and ofcourse it would be their fault.....ALSO NOTICE....When jenny quotes military stat she uses officers...ofcourse the officers have more advanced degrees...but the other 99.5% of the military are low to middle class sons and daughters of factory workers, who do not have the luxuray of a dad who can keep them AWOL in alabama printing and reprinting manuals like bush sr did for dubay....These soldiers are honarable and heroes...The only cowards are you right wingers who send them off to die...because you are to big a coward to grab a rifle yourself...I think this war should be prosecuted by the folks who believe...If you are so on fire about invading and occupying the wrong middle eastern country...Strap on your rifle and get your asses of the yahoo questions section and in Iraq....

Heres' what he said that wass not true: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Why is it not true you ask...

Here are some education stats for our military.

22.8 percent of company grade officers have advanced degrees; 16.5 percent have master's degrees, 5.9 percent have professional degrees and 0.3 percent have doctorate degrees.

85.4 percent of field officers have advanced degrees; 70.7 percent have master's degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.

99.9 percent of the enlisted force have at least a high school education; 73.3 percent have some semester hours toward a college degree; 16.2 percent have an associates degree or equivalent semester hours,4.7 percent have a bachelor's degree , 0.7 have a master's degree and .01 have a doctorate or professional degree.
