I could never remember it until I ran track in High School. The track was a quarter mile -- which was also 440 yards. So if I ever need to know the number of feet in a mile, I will just multiply 440 by four to get the number of yards in a mile then multiply by 3 to get the number of feet.

You also need to know that 1 meter = 3.28 feet. 2 M/sec = 6.56 Ft/sec. now 6.56 Ft/Sec x 60 sec/min x 60 min hr gives you 6.56 x 3600 or 23616 Ft/hr, and 23616 ft hr / 5280 Ft/Mile = 4.72... Mi/hr.
