Odds are good that there was no reason to discontinue nursing. There are usually other meds that you can take that are safe. :-( Always make sure to have a LLL Leader or IBCLC check drugs for you in the book "Medications & Mothers' Milk" by Hale. This is *THE* resource for this info. DO NOT go by what the PDR says, which is what your doc or pharmacist is likely to check.
Were you pumping during the period of temporary weaning? Hopefully you were so that your breasts were still being stimulated. Does your daughter still latch on OK? Nurse her as often as she wants. If you can, spend about 3 days doing NOTHING but taking care of yourself and her and nursing. Don't cook, clean, etc. Just take about a 3 day "nursing vacation" where you have lots of skin to skin contact and nurse a lot. You can also try pumping in between nursing sessions to help boost things some.
There is an herbal supplement called fenugreek that is very good at helping boost supply. You'll want to take 3-4 capsules 3x per day. If you are taking enough, you'll start to smell like maple syrup. Be sure to read the link below as there are a few maternal conditions that could make taking fenugreek a bad idea.
There is also a tea you can get at the health food store called Mother's Milk Tea.
If the nursing vacation and herbs don't do the trick, talk to your doc about domperidone or reglan, two drugs which can boost supply.
Remember....it's supply and demand. That's the number one way to boost supply. Nothing else will help if the milk isn't getting removed from the breasts often enough.

I have a 3 month old who I breastfeed the first 10 weeks. If your supply is low start pumping a lot to get your supply built back up. Also, look online for herbal supplements to help increase your milk supply. Go the the le lecha leaugue website. Rent a really good breast pump, like a medela to help you increase your supply. If this is your first baby, trust me you need to get to pumping now or your supply will dwindle to nothing quickly if it was 2 weeks you were on meds. Call your hospital you delivered from and ask to speak to the lactation consultants. They normally give you free advice! They will even meet with you for free (at the hospital).

I started the wrong birth control while breastfeeding and my supply got very low. I pumped and pumped and PUMPED, but my milk never recovered and I was forced to give up because my baby got so frustrated and basically stopped nursing.
My advice is to try the pumping (and in fact, your doctor should have suggested that you pump for the two weeks when you couldn't nurse...), but if the milk won't come back you'll just have to accept it!

I think two weeks is a pretty long time to stop for and you're doing well to still be producing anything at all!
Putting your daughter to the breast frequently will stimulate the milk producing hormones. You should also make sure you eat well yourself and drink plenty so that you are well hydrated and the milk you do produce will be the best possible quality.
Hopefully your supply will pick up a bit but please don't beat yourself up over it if you need to carry on with some formula feeds too - she'll be fine!
Good luck!

Use a breast pump between feedings. This way when your daughter feeds if you need to give her a bottle, you are still giving her breast milk. The extra pumping should help trick your breasts into thinking your daughter is feeding more, and they will begin to produce more. The more consistent you are, the better your milk supply will come in.

You could also go to a medical supply store and buy an SNS feeder. You put a little formula in this feeder and tape the tiny tube to your nipple area. The baby drinks milk from you and still gets a little formula until your milk comes back in (This might help satisfy her until your milk comes back full strength). The SNS feeder allows baby to get a little extra food while still stimulating your breasts. Also pump pump pump. I had to do this for my jaundice babies each time until my milk supply came in all the way. Good Luck!

There is a homeopathic remedy called URTICA URENS 30c you take 3 every 4 hours for one day and the next 2 days 3 every 12 hours
You will see the difference! the milk comes out a little more concentrated than usual, and you should feed your child as often as possible so you can re-install the regular feedings.
It worked for me with my first girl on two occasions when I lost almost totally the milk because of stress.
Good Luck!

Get a pump and do it as much as possible, keep trying to nurse. Drinking a glass of beer everyday is suppose to help. Trying to stay relaxed and drinking enough water is very important. Good luck. It can happen. Also the herb fenugreek is suppose to help too.

I took more milk plus. I got it at a nutrition store. I took 4 2x a day and increased my milk supply.
I called the lactation consultant at the hospital where I gave birth and that is what she recommended. It is a good idea to give your birth hospital a call and ask for the lactation consultant in case they can give you any additional information that can help you
