I've been seeing my girlfriend for 3 years since we were 16 - now 19. I'm back in court next week and looking at a 12-18 month sentence. It was an assault charge and she knows all about it and said she would stick by me. She says if I get that she can't guarantee she will stick around. I do love her and want her to stay with me but with everything else going on and worrying about jail I think she is being unfair.

You have made a choice to ruin your life, now you are asking her to ruin hers by sticking around and to wait for you.If you loved her you would want her to get on with her life until you fix yours! You need to get your life straight, go back to school, get a degree before you work on making a life with someone else!

If she's not willing to stand by your side during this hard time in your life then how will she stand by your side for other things ... like getting married, having children, being faithful ... etc ... she might not be the one for you .. I love my man to death - if he got into a fight and charged with assault - I would be there for him no matter what ... three years is a long time to be with somebody when you're that young .. maybe she just wants to finally move on and this is her excuse ... I wouldn't want my man to worry about anything more than himself and getting out of jail ... now you do have to take some responsibility for your actions .. it's not her fault if she doesn't stick around .. that's her choice .. good luck with whatever happens ... !

If she loves you at all then she would stick by you no matter what. Obviously she couldn't give a damn what your going through at the moment and is just thinking about her own feelings. She could still go out with her mates but remain loyal too you. Cut your losses now, otherwise if you do get sentenced (hopefully you wont) then it will do your head in even more being in there thinking about what she is doing, and you don't need that . Good Luck Mate, Hope it turns out ok for you. Chin Up. x

Ive been there done that...believe me doing time will be hard for u but its also hard for the person on the other side doing the time with u...especially if they truly love u...u are actually the one thats being unfair because ur asking her to put her life on hold to wait 4 u...alot can happen in a year...ur best bet would be to try and get work release so u can still see her everyday...

that's a tough question...i've had family and friends who have been in similar situations and i can only imagine how difficult it is to be behind bars without the support of a loved one, but on the other hand u have to realize that life continues while u r locked up and u really can't blame her if she gets in another relationship.. look how young u are that's a hard one. but then again 12-18 months is nothing compared to years so there's a good chance she won't go anywhere, especially if she feels the same way about you.

Providing you havn't done anything real bad i can't see why she shouldn't stick by you especially if she loves you.

I was in this boat a few months ago where it was possible my partner may have gone to prison for something he didn't do but i would have still stood by him as i totally adore and love him.

Whether you like it or not, you'll be cheating on her when you're in prison. Some prison dude will turn you into his girlfriend within 1 day. I guess you should hope it's hot some big black brotha with a huge pole. I feel for ya man, you're gonna be gettin your guilty **** reamed out every day for 12 to 18 mos. You'll probably learn how to suck like a pro too. Look at it this way, YOU and your GF will both have new boyfriends soon!
Laterz....

if you dont want to do the time then guess what, dont do the crime. sorry if i sound predictable but unfortunately you cannot expect your girl to wait. maybe you do love her and if you do, you cant be loving her while behind bars. if you are lucky and she does wait for you then next time you are tempted to do wrong, think twice, much better to be in the embrace of your girl than in the nick. good lucik.
