Am I the only person who laughed all the way through The Exorcist?
I know that film was supposed to be scary but I found it hilarious.
Am I weird?

At the time it was made, Psycho was pretty scary. A lot of adults that saw that took baths instead of showers for a while. A lot of people freaked out when they saw the Exorcist, but I did not, probably because I knew it was only a movie. But, then again, I have always been a little weird when it comes to scary movies. I love the old classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Mummy movies. I have all the DVDs of the old classics, and I laugh at a lot of the innuendo's that they have in them. Some of the Stephen King stuff like It was pretty scary, though. Soilent Green was kind of scary too, especially when they talk about how despirate things can get with world wide starvation.

Here are some great horror movies that I love. Jeepers Creepers, The Strangers, Vacancy, Silent Hill, Black Christmas, Quarantine, The Crazies, Amityville Horror, Dawn Of The Dead, Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead, The Shining, Wrong Turn, Halloween, Final Destination 1 & 3, Mirrors, A Nightmare On Elm Street, 30 Days of Night, Friday The 13th and The Last House On The Left. My favorite movie is The Strangers because it's actually scary and it's based off true events. It's also something different in the horror genre which I love. Liv Tyler did an amazing job in this movie and it will scare you especially if you watch it by yourself at night. Happy Halloween!

The "scariest film ever" is different films for different people. For me it's "Spice World."

Laughing at "inappropriate" (not trying to say wrong just not expected) times is common when people are nervous. Perhaps the very soft speaking scenes in between the loud loud horror scenes made you a bit nervous without being aware of it. That, or you thought "the sow is mine" was just a hoot to see on-screen. Exorcist is both a psychological and visual thriller - but if you watch it with the sound off or don't buy into the psychological part, it probably looks goofy.

Did you know the sound track to that film has numerous hidden effects in it, including buzzing bees, roaring lions, and small animals being slaughtered? http://theexorcist.warnerbros.com/cmp/silencebottom.html
