If the infection is really bad your eyeball might bleed but hopefully you'll feel a little pain before the infection gets that far and have enough common sense to take the contact out by then. You eyeball will become red and itchy but not blind.

All of the above can happen with an eye infection caused by wearing contact lenses.

The first thing you should do is take out the lenses, leave them out, place them in some saline and go to your eye doctor. He or she can tell you if the contacts caused the infection or if it was something else.

You will have to get new contacts after lenses have been exposed to infections in the eye. There is no way to clean them to make certain that you don't get a recurring infection from wearing previously infected lenses.

Don't risk blindness. Go to your doctor.

You'l need to stop wearing contacts for a while. Get some antibiotics to clear the infection and make sure that you only use clean lenses. Once you've had lenses in an infected eye, bacteria will be in those lenses and will re-infect. Throw them out.

I have never heard of them being able to bleed. I have had an infection caused by not taking my contacts out at night. They get red, swollen and irriated. They water alot and feel scratchy. It is hard to look at bright lights without sunglasses. I went to the eyedoctor and he prescribed drops. It worked!!
