Red neck is usually a rural person. The name is quite literally, as they usually work outdoors and have a sunburned neck.

it originally came from people who worked in the fields, American Southern Farmers mostly, and they had plenty of occasions for the need to improvise on one thing or another (which was quite different than the so called "high society people") and therefore gradually became derogatory, I'm a born&bred city girl, but i'm proud of my redneck roots ----and yes, there is always at least a 6-pk of Beer in my frige and i do use the "all american fix-all" (duct tape) to fix all. My car door, my sons shoe, the window shade (that fell off the roller), although I'm not as bad as my redneck landlord, who used duct tape to fix the floater ball in the toilet tank. whew doggie!!!

You're a redneck if, on the way to work in the mornings, you draw a chalk circle around dead animals on the highway, so that you can recognize the fresh kill on the way home.

You're a redneck if you use duct tape to trim your truck with silver racing stripes.

Afraid of the unknown, but unwilling to show it. Farmers, Iron smiths, Masons. Fiercely proud of all that they build and do. Family people who kick up their heels regularly to keep their sanity. Do not understand high society and are unwilling to keep up with the Jones. Willing to die for their Country. Yes, their necks are red, but it's from working out of doors building the USA.

one day, I was practicng jihad with boyfriend when this guy with green teeth, and a banjo on his back came out of the clearing brandishing a shotgun!!
He told me I had a purty mouth, and made me unspeakable acts!!

Now he doesnt write me or call me...and I am very brokenhearted..

That is my definition of redneck.
