I am another gay person. To be quite honest, the idea that a gay person needs to tell people that he is gay is false. It is none of their business. Now, if they ask him about what kind of people he likes, he can be ubiquitous, and describe his ideal person, just leave out the fact that it is a man, or be open, and specifically say, "I'm not attracted to women."

At my work, there are only a few people who I have explicitly said, "I am gay" to. To everyone else, they don't need the confirmation. BTW, if he is trying to hide it, they probably already know.

Well... you answered the subject question yourself: people hide the truth because they're scared.
Now... what he should do is work to take that fear away. Test the waters a bit to see how they'd react, and (especially if they'll react like he fears they will) start looking for ways to deal with it. Save up some money so he'll have something to fall back on if he has to leave and try to find another place to work that will be more accepting, and maybe start looking to see where he could go if there is a problem. Take away the power that any hatred or ridicule might have over him there, and he won't be as scared to open up.

I hid my life long ambition for years to my wife and kids, eventually I overdosed and the anguish was awful. when it came out why I done it I changed my sex from male to female, but found out later I didnt care for men although I have a lot of men friends, not sexually but just friends, I became lesbian and I am not one little bit ashamed of it, I am happy and live my life like I want to. If your friend is suffering and struggling with his life now he will suffer more in the future because he didnt do what he wanted to do. The first person he must talk to is his wife then take it from there. hope it helps him.

not all people are the same bro........... Do you want others to hate him just because he is gay? he is hiding because he doesn't want to be discrimenated upon at his work place.

but the truth is trust me, he can't hide this for the rest of his life, he will come clean one day lol......

Fear is keeping him from the truth. He must first overcome these fears and become honest with himself.

Why do homos and lesbians feel the need to share with the world who they like to have sex with? I am straight, do I go to coworkers and tell them I like to have sex with women? No. Coworkers are there to WORK with. Not have sex with. When will they ever learn?
