I think a celebrity is an entertainer in some form, such as movie stars, singers, sports stars, and TV personalities. But a famous person can be an inventor, a doctor, a historian, or a director.

A celebrity is someone who has reached superstardom. Anyone can be famous, but not anyone can be a celebrity. It is a persona, it is a look, it is a style, and it is hard to acheive.
