Well it doesn't actually MAKe you remember things but it is suggested that it triggers memory.
Studies have been conducted on all colors and it suggests that the color yellow is geared toward memory.
Have you ever wondered why post-its are colored yellow? And we all know that post-its are used for a variety of diffrent things such as "reminder notes."
There are many colors that are suggested suppose to be unreceptive to people. Such as the combination of red and yellow...ever wonder why fast food places such as Mc Donalds used those colors in their dine in areas?
Well..fast food resturants are suppose to be a grab and go kind of establishment. They don't really want people lingering after they get they food so they decorate their dine in area in colors that aren't flattering or receptive to people. Now of course it doesn't afect everyone but we are talking generalities here.
Your friend wasn't lying to you. When I was in college majoring in graphic design I took a color class and you learn all about stuff like that and how it relates to marketing and advertising. So...I hope i've helped you understand this a little better!
