Re. suggestions for other ones -- they have to be insanely warm, though. Looks are secondary. Which is why I included the 'comfort ranges' -- seems the uglier the coat, the warmer it is.

Comments on colour choices thoroughly appreciated, too.

Okay, little miss "Those coats are ok if you're above the age of 50." When you're out of your early teens, you feel (and look) _much_ stupider wearing something that's not warm enough, no matter what your coat looks like. You meant "those coats are all fine if you're planning on spending time in semi-rural Canada." HTH!

To the rest of you: okay, okay; the Eddie Bauer one, I get it. Of course the least warm would be the best looking. Sigh...

I like #2 in white, and #3 in plum grape.

I like the second one the best. The white one is pretty, but the brown one looks nice too. I think that the coat is pretty stylish and I would buy it even if the coldness part wasn't the biggest factor. Next would be the third link and then the top I really don't like it that much.

Good Luck. Hope I helped you make a decision.

if i had to choose the second one, just stay in house solves all problems. Make sure u have many supplies of food or u'll go hungry unless you have a good takeaway local. But if u have a nut alergy then please make sure the prepare none nutty dishes in a seperate area. Being a food inspector i know these things. Ma gran knitts jackets there cosy.

I like the llbean one. I like the mid blue color, if you're doing skiing and stuff, better get a short coat.
