I stoped going to starbucks every day. 4 dollars a day times 30 days in a month adds up.

Eating at home is probably the easiest way to save money. With a slow cooker (crock pot), a microwave and a George Foreman grill, you can make meals as delicious as any in a restaurant faster than they can serve you. You'll quickly lose your taste for fast food, too.
Try this simple menu. Put water on to boil. Pull out:
1 hamburger patty or pork chop or piece of steak
package of rotini noodles
parmesan/romano cheese blend
frozen stir fry vegetables
butter
When the water comes to a boil, put a handful of rotini in for each serving (2 people = 2 handfuls). Add a cup of stir fry vegetables to the same water. Cook until rotini is tender.
When you put the rotini in the water, put the meat on the George Foreman grill. Keep it on medium heat.
When the rotini and vegetables are done, drain them and add a pat of butter. Stir. Add parmesan/romano cheese. Stir again and dump into a serving bowl. Set the pan to soak.
Check the meat. If it's done, shift it to a plate. Scrape the hot grill with the scraper and close it up again. Unplug it.
After dinner you'll need to wipe the grill down with a paper towel and wash the one pan, the serving bowl, plates and utensils. In the meantime you've had a really good dinner for an average cost of $4.00 (one person) and $6.50 for two. Preparation time was less than a half hour. Clean up time 15 to 30 minutes. No driving, no waiting, no fuss.

Check your neighbor's trash. There may be something there you can sell at your next garage sale.
Take the change from you pocket each day and put it in a 5 gallon bucket. When the bucket is full, you'll have almost $1000 saved, but you won't be able to lift it.
Don't buy frozen dinners or fast food. Just buy fresh vegetables and fruits. It's more nutritious and cheaper too.
Put a timer on your hot water heater so that it only turns on 2 hours before you shower.

Traded my 4wd pick-up in on a smaller model. The money I save in gas pays the payment.
Ditched the cell phone. I really don't need to be available 24/7.

Don't go out to eat. Eat bolony sandwiches and drink water. Or ramen noodles. Don't watch tv. Keep yourself entertained by reading books. Don't flush the toilet when you pee, it will save on your water bill. open the windows and use fans instead of the AC. Layer your clothes if your cold and wrap up in blankets instead of using the heater. ride the bus. walk. ride a bike. carpool. in general, don't spend money unnecessarily.

Before you go shopping make a list of necessities. Look at it really closely and ask yourself Do I really need this or that. Set a limit on what you spend...
Also saving money every paycheck pay your savings account 1st before anything else.

Pay all your bills before you spend it on anything else. That's probably how most people avoid problems. Either that or have part of your paycheck put into a profitsharing or retirement fund. That also works pretty well. Sheer willpower is the hardest way.

I rotate clothes with my sister to keep my wardrobe appearing new without buying new clothes. When I eat out, I buy an appetizer and desert- proportions are better that way too. I carpool as much as possible or walk.
