She says that it is nearly impossible for her to do homework or study without the TV on but I have trouble studying with it on. If I bring up turning it off she becomes annoyed. I don't know what to do. Our grades have both been lackluster lately, and she doesn't believe the Television might factor into that. What would you do?

You should find someplace else to study. If you don't have an extra room at home, try a library.

It might be a hassle but it will at least keep the peace.

Good luck!

Study separately, leave the room, leave the house. None of those do it for you? How about buying some sound-cancelling headphones? You can block out the sound of the TV and pipe in some music (or not) to study with. You don't have to spend $300 for the Bose -- other manufacturers sell less expensive headphones. Here's a link:

If you don't have the option of studying somewhere else, I recommend throwing on some earphones and listen to some music. This way, you are able to be in the room at the same time, but you can drown out the noise with your own music.

Go study at a park or outside or library or wherever you want, but it looks like you have to do it away from the t.v. study girlfriend you have.

Go to your local library. Go to another room. If it's a dorm situation there should be somewhere quiet to go. Maybe then your friend will realize she misses your companionship and how bad she's bugging you.
