Double line restart's: Be four the flagman waves the green flag after each caution, the car's that are on the lead-lap line up on the outside of the track closest to the fan's, the car's that are 1 or more lap's behind the lead-lap car's line up on the inside of the track, That is so they can try to get back on the lead-lap by passing the leader of the race.......but if there are 10 lap's or less remaining in the race they do a single line restart with all the car's a lap or more down lining up behind the lead-lap car's.

The double line restart is the car one or more laps down, or behind the lead car , are lined up on the inside of the track. If no cars are down a lap then the cars line up single file. This is an attempt by NASCAR to make the race as even as possible on the restarts.
