Water is different from most molecules in that it is dipolar. Since it has two H+ atoms and an O atom, and since the two hydrogen atoms are on one side of the O atom, a small magnetic field is produced. And of course, when those molecules move, so do their fields.

Water is a polar molecule. You can charge up a rod and hold it close to a stream of water and watch it deflect the water.

But that doesn't really answer your question, does it?
