I have a friend who tells a lot of "little white lies" and on occasion make things up. I've gotten to the point where I wonder,if he lies so easily about the little things what is stopping him from lying about the big things? How can I make myself be more trusting?

you will never trust someone that you know has lied to you 100%. If you are like me, you will always find yourself trying to find ways of knowing if they are lying to you or not. Some people are pathological liars and can't possibly stop- so just be careful with your trust and what you are trusting him with!

don't let people lie to your face. you should let yourself know that lying is not a good thing, it only gets you into trouble. Trust me, i know. Well then you need to tell this person that you have caught on to the "little white lies" and it is not fooling anyone. you should tell him that you think people would like him alot better if he just told the truth. In the end i think you will get the feeling of a job well done.

You shouldn't trust someone that constantly lies. There's nothing stopping him from lying about the bigger things if he finds lying about the small things so easy.
Trust and honesty are the single most important factors in a loving relationship, friendships too...

Don't try and make yourself more trusting of him because you can't trust him. Lying will just be the beginning for him. I guess you can stay friends with him but you have to be careful of him. He might steal from you and then if you ask him about it he'll lie about it.

This person cannot be trusted...trust is something you earn...if they tell little lies...they are probably not telling the truth on a lot of things.

Sometimes people feel they should go about this way because they feel inferior, lack of self esteem, or feel they cannot achieve what they really want. I do not know that your big things are but I would be a closer friend to him to help him along.

pray about it. tell the person how you fee and if they don't stop, then let them go, because they are disrespecting you and themselves.

learn to watch out for signs of people who lie regularly and don't get close to those people.

it takes time to trust again, depending on how badly someone hurt you or made you lose their trust.

You don't need to change a thing. My sister is the same way. She calls it "embellishing" I call it lying, and I just don't ever believe her. It isn't on you, the problem belongs to your friend.
