My boyfriend gets the hic-ups all the time and to help him get over it I keep mints around(the red peppermint type). I think the sugar helps cure his hic-ups.

One way is to give the diaphragm a forced rest: hold your breath as long as you can, then exhale very gradually. Or try deep, slow breathing. Nonstop, slow sipping of a glass of warm water may have the same effect. And teaspoons od sugar helps...honesty sometimes nothing works it just depends.....if nothing works then you will have hiccups for a few minutes or maybe couple hrs lol i know it's annoying

Hold your breath. I know this sounds stupid, but this is a little different. Take a deep breath and hold it, then keep gulping more air, as your chest expands, you can get more air in there, until there's no room left. Once you reach that point, just hold for a couple more seconds and then let it out.
Hope this helps.

Drink water upside down. No, you don't have to stand on your head. Just bend over, put your mouth on the other side of the glass, and drink the water with your top lip being closest to the floor.
I'm not sure my instructions make sense, but it does work.

Hold your breath while doing a headstand and eating a spoonfull of sugar and chugging a glass of water. Sure, those are many remedies all rolled into one, but imagine the fun of watching it being tried!

This by far is the funniest question not because you asked the question but because of the answers that some of the people are giving.

Stick your thumbs in your ears, close your nostrils with your index fingers, take a deep breath, put your head between your knees and count to 25.
It works, I don't know why, but it does work.

just try to relax and do some deep and controlled breathing. the hiccups will contine for a little while but will eventually stop once you relax. it is basically a muscle spasm

from past experience i have found that holding your breath, getting a fright, etc... doesnt work! what works for me (this might sound a little strange) is drink a glass of water with a straw (if you don't have a straw you can try without, it might also work...) whilst blocking your nose and ears at the same time...kind of have 1 hand on each side of your face plugging your ears with your thumbbs and pushing your nose together with your fingers... hope it works!
