With Blairs leadership coming to a close,is he acting on global warming because he wants to go down in history as "The Man Who Tried To Save The World"?
Or am I just being cynical?

If we ignore the rants from the Labour Party apparatchiks who tell us how wonderful he is most of us can work out for ourselves exactly how wonderful he has been. His objectives from day one has been to neuter Parliamentary Democracy, politicise the Civil Service and police in which he has been very successful. Without being cynical the scheme to to cut global warming is just 'hot air' and a way of extracting more taxpayers money from them.

Not cynical at all friend, i've been saying exactly that for a while now, he wants to go down in the history books as the PM who saved the world, i'm sure the government dont give a tuppenny toss about the environment - they'll be long gone before any ill effects (if indeed global warming exists - there is still no concrete scientific proof either way) take hold.

You're 100% on the money mate.

Probably both...

Just as some misguided individuals look back on the times of Thatcher [bitchbitchbitch] with love a fondness... so will others with Blair..

The difference is that Blair and the Labour party care about ordinary people. Yeah.. they've had to cosy up to business and the rich to get power... but they have done some mighty good things to our country... [They have done bad too... it just proves they're human]...

I don't believe, however, that whatever is done to combat global warming will be effective...

It is more likely to be used as a way of raising taxes and eroding freedoms... so beware... Just think who is likely to follow this labour government and who will stand to benefit the most from any changes....

Who said his leadership is coming to a close? Which spineless jellyfish would you like to see in No 10 in his place? Blair is only looking to his greater good; on the 'guest speaker' circuit or the 'My Time in Power' book club

Do you enjoy living in misery with what is already out there in planet of apes.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors created after independence being expose with time.
Do you still want to live in Fantasy Toyland with the mess created by the monkeys out there in planet of apes?
What about the real world after world war two where did it go?
Do you know what is over the horizon if we don't do something about it now.
The dirty old man saw it and is trying to correct it not for his glory but for the survival of the little ones out there in planet of apes.

he is competing with all the other political parties, all of whom these last few weeks have issued policies on global warming.

but i agree with you, i think he is setting himself up to be remembered for a long time as the GREAT prime minister Tony Blair.

but all of us living under his regime know that it isnt strictly the case.

No, you are not being cynical. Politicians do whatever they think will be good for their party.

He's probably trying to go out with a bang, a last chance to do something and be remembered for it, too little too late.
