I know you can plaster them but how do you go about it? thanks

I would not recommend repairing a water tank if your using it in your house. Chances are if there's rust on the outside there is also rust on the inside. This will just cause more problems in the future. I don't believe you can plaster these either. You might be thinking of an automotive bondo or metalworking epoxy. These will patch and fill the holes temporarily.

I think you were thinking about cementing it, where you wrap chicken wire all over it and gradually build up cement layers. It is a really lot of trouble and work. Go for a new poly tank.

If your talking about something your using, for your water supply and it's rusted, toss it out and buy a new one. Your going to get sick drinking from it Pal. Your slowly poisoning your family. You don't fix something like that, toss it.
