My advice is always the same -- go to as good a school as you can get into. You may have some constraints -- because some schools are more open to accepting community college transfers than others. This may mean that your best choice is the top state school in your state.

You don't say where you are -- but it shouldn't be too hard to find the best state school. For example, in North Carolina -- go to UNC Chapel Hill, not UNC Charlotte ot East Carolina. In Virginia, go to U of VA not George Mason. In Michigan, go to U of MI, not Wayne State -- etc.

If you can do it, try to transfer after you r first year, not your second.

Knowing where you live would be useful. Can you afford to go out of state? Also a 3.5 average may not be good enough to get into some of the tougher schools. Why do you want to stop community college right now. Core courses for any degree take about two years to complete and a community college is cheaper and easier to get higher grades. It would be good for you to speak with a faculty advisor at the school and get some recommendations of where other people have gone on from your particular community college. A good advisor ought to know the other schools academic requirements. After getting some recommendations, most libraries carry catalogues from major schools or can tell you where to get one.
