If you would have her stand up for you, then stand up for her with some tact. "I'm sorry, but it makes me sad that you would talk negatively of my favorite person. She is kind hearted and giving, makes me soup when I'm sick etc. . ." Compliment what you love about her. Then finish off by looking your friend in the eye and saying "If only everyone was a thoughtful as you." You have taken attention away from anything negative and redirected everyone's train of thought to kinder things. Use your own vernacular and be sincere.

So, what I'm hearing you say is that you get tired of hearing people talk about your big friend, is that right? Sorry!
If they are saying it directly to you, then tell them "it is not nice to talk about my friend that way." If it is just something you happen to hear, you are just going to have to buck it up and learn to ignore them.
There is that old say -- "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all."
I have found over the years that it easier for most people to find the negative side of other people versus the positive side.
People are so critical of others -- you here it enough you begin to believe all the negative things people say about you.
SO PEOPLE OUT THERE EVERY WHERE!!!!! LETS START BEING NICE TO EACH OTHER!!!! LETS START SAYING POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT EACH OTHER!!!! OKAY!!!!
Lets see how many people can give me a thumbs up if you agree.

Okay, I'm very big and I get tired of hearing people make comments about me, usually my friends will turn to me and tell me to ignore it or say "don't listen to them". Causing a scene by yelling at the commenting people will probably just embarrass your friend. If it's in a quiet setting, you could walk over to them and tell them to knock it off, that it's not nice. All you really can do it make sure your friend isn't taking it to heart. It's painful when you go out in public and people comment on how fat you are. Eventually makes you not want to go out in public. Make sure you don't comment on other people appearances around your friend (preferably not at all) because I can pretty much guarantee when you do that, it makes her think about what people say about her. Ignore the other people, focus on your friend.

Tell them "Be nice", "that she is your friend and you don't want to hear people saying mean things about her". Stick up for your friend. You can do this without being nerdy or making the hurting people hate you. Just make them realize that if they are going to continue talking badly about her, they should do it elseware.
If they are doing it in front of her. Take her away from the situation immediately. Tell her that that was mean and that you don't agree with what they are doing. Be her friend.

Stick up for her, when you hear people talking about her. A "true friend" would do that, without question, regardless of the way she looks, or how "big" she is! Besides....a true friend would already know what to do!

Definitely without a doubt say something firm but not rude that lets people know it is not ok for them to be unkind at her expense. Its hurtful, very much so!! Thats awful. be a good friend and she will be one to you.
