At 4 weeks, you are probably not into the morning sickness phase yet. Keep your fingers crossed that that will not be an issue for you. Anyway, I found that in early pregnancy, I did best eating very small meals every hour or two. If you let yourself get too hungry, that's when you will probably start feeling sick. Try to keep eating healthy options, like fruits and vegetables, and eat a little protien and a little whole grain every few hours to keep your blood sugar level. You also will not need any more calories than before you were pregnant until you are about 12-13 weeks, so try to keep your calorie consumption normal, just spread out, rather than eating a ton of food now. If you gain too much in your first trimester (as in more than 5-7 pounds), you will probably feel rotten both emotionally and physically later on.

Best of luck for a healthy pregnancy and baby!

Well, I am 21 weeks now, and I went through the same thing. I found that if I ate more frequently, I had less nausea. The same still applies. Although I never had morning sickness, the nausea was a problem. Eating will help-don't fight the hunger. You don't need a whole meal, usually a piece if cheese and a handful of snack crackers should do. Or even a banana. Stay away from the vending machines!!! Nothing good is in there!
Good Luck!

well before I was prego I would eat 2 times a day but big meals. when I was prego I wasnt hungry for the first 4 months. Im almost 6 months and now I eat:
breakfast at 9:00 am
lunch at 12:00
snack at 2:00pm
snack at 4:00 pm
dinner at 6:30 pm
I have only gained 4 pounds so far and I feel good and my doctor told me to eat small meals thru out the day to not gain so much weight---but again everyone is different and gains weight differently each month

I am 18 weeks and went through the same in the first few months. Your body is working very hard in the first few months , even if you can't see it, so it is a good that you are feeling hungry.

It's best to eat a little every two hours or so. I found carbohydrates like toast, bowl of cereal or bakes potatos helped to fill me up; much better than junk foods. Also a glass of milk will fill a gap and be very good for your baby - just wizz up with a banana or add some milkshake mix for a bit of variety. I found having some milk or hot chocolate and a banana just before I went to bed helped keep off the morning sickness.

Don't be worried about giving in to your cravings though - they won't last for ever, just a few weeks. I lived off Cornflakes, oranges and toast for two weeks and the midwife said it is much better just to eat what you fancy. Enjoy the time - it goes quickly, and relax.

Early in my pregnancy I ate all the time, I was never, ever full. Now I'm 24 weeks and some days I could eat nonstop and others days it's not like that at all. If you're hungry - eat something! Remember you're growing a little life inside you and it takes a LOT out of you.

Very normal to feel hungry all the time while your pregnant, your body is VERY busy and needs the extra nutrients. You want to eat small snacks in between your main meals. Try not to pig out each time you eat something. Have a nice breakfast and then you may want something like a apple or yogurt a couple of hours later or so.

CONGRATS!

I usually munch on a snack every couple of hours. I was did this with both pregnancies because it's recommended anyways to have steady flow into your body for nutrition. If you are hungry....EAT! Just don't eat junk food, or anything that has limits (sodium, fish, etc) and you will be fine!

The myth she is eating for two is not true.. .If you are hungry all the time eat healthy and do it in moderation... Eating all the time can only cause you to more weight then desired. When i was pg with my daughter i gained 64 lbs. and it took me a while to get it off... only because i was eating junk all the time. ... Eat healthy...

I eat when I'm hungry. Today I've been munching all day! Yesterday I hardly ate at all. Like I said, when I'm hungry I eat, when I'm not I don't.
