I haven't seen one good movie since Titanic or As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson. Are the moviemakers running out of ideas or what? Where have all the good movies gone? I don't know but I hope they come back someday soon.

Most of them do, but if you like action try Lucky Number Slevin (really good and Josh Hartnett and Bruce WIllis are reasons alone to watch this flick) and Running Scared with Paul Walker (which I assumed would suck just because it was that guy from the Fast and the Furious). Both have lots of twists, turns and action. Good horror is hard to find, but the Saw series isn't bad. I don't watch romance, and most comedy is not very funny. Not since they quit making good Edie Murphy movies. Action is all they are really decent at anymore. And though I am not crazy about most romance/romantic comedy I thought Something's Gotta Give was pretty good. You really have to weed through the crap to find the good stuff.

I adored AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! I also loved The Notebook, however. I have started watching more independant films rather than the regular blockbusters.

How about I recommend some incredible movies that a lot of people haven't seen?

Try renting PLAYING BY HEART (a little known gem with big name actors like Sean Connery, Ryan Phillippe, Jon Stewart, Gillian Anderson, Angelina Jolie, and more)

Music From Another Room (a little known Jude Law gem)

It isn't you. The majority of new movies do suck.. Why do you think there are so many re-makes from old TV shows. That's why there are so many part 2's and 3's. Like Mission Impossible 3. What a piece of crap!!

you are a very observant individual, yes i think most movies today are not as good as yesteryears but its not that they are running out of ideas but i think they are either very lazy to do some thinking or those who have good ideas are not getting paid enough and anyway if the producer think that by recycling some old ideas and giving it a little polishing and the audiences will still pay good money to see it and they will make good money, too so why bother and spend unnecessarily. its is soooo saad! don't you think?

I manage a theatre so I am aware of your thoughts. I think the same way. I put together films and preview them and when I sit to watch them I hope one after the other is better than the last. I hope Hollywood would open their eyes and see what us viewers really want. I saw School for Scoundrels and that is pretty okay. Watch that and let me know your thoughts. :)

I've thought that too, but I think there's finally a couple decent ones out there. It seems like everything lately has been a remake or show turned into a movie.

i agree movies lately haven't been that great..but your movie selections sound pretty crappy as well.

the only decent movies have been independents, foreign films, or low budget movies. although..lady in the water, and v for vendetta were pretty good as well and they were blockbusters, and highly underrated.

so granted movie script quality isn't what it used to be..but in alot of ways movies have improved. special effects, cinematography, directing, and various other things have improved over time. i think maybe now wer'e just more aware of what good movies are.

Yes, the new writer's hired these days can only re-hash the old classics and novels with nothing original. Comedies are about the most tolerable of the bunch.

Most of the good stories have already been used, its hard to be original with so many movies out.

All the good movies are foriegn films or independant film. When you rent movies in the future look for the ones that won awards at film festivals those are the good ones.
