Yes, i have two. You should have someone else clean thier litter, however.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean should you get a cat when you are 8 months?

I would advise against it. I have a cat. I love my cat. I will not get rid of my cat. However, I'm very worried about how my cat will react to my baby. (I'm 9 months pregnant.)

Cats like to cuddle up to warm things. The cat wouldn't mean to harm the child, but it could easily smother it. Also, when cats become frightened or startled, they dig their hind claws into any surface to give them traction so they can escape easily. My cat has badly scarred my leather furniture. I can only imagine what he would do to the skin of my newborn if he were caught snuggling up to her and was frightened away from her.

If you can hold off until the baby is a toddler, that would be much better. At that point, the cat may scratch the baby, but it won't be deadly or disfiguring for life.

Good luck to you.

Sure! The only stipulation is usually that you have someone else clean out the litter box. If that is not possible, use long gloves and wash thoroughly. The bacteria is really the only concern. Cats are generally very receptive to and/or ignore babies.

You can have one, just dont change the litter box or anything, get someone else to take care of all that stuff. Try not to have prolonged times with the cat since I dont think the dander is very good for you.

Are you going to have a cat ? Or are you saying that you want to get a cat and that you are now 8 months pregnant.

Sure - just don't change the litter. I found this website that explains the toxin found in cat feces that can be bad for an unborn child.

Yeah, why couldn't you? They don't bother you, they just get real lovey, because they know that the baby is coming soon. That' s what my cat did.

Yes, but get someone else to clean the litter box for you, as you can develop toxoplasmosis (sp), which can be harmful to your baby.

Yes, but you can not change the litter box, at all! If you are just getting one, I would wait on it. They are usually mean with small babies anyways.
