Ive been reading a few posts on here and i was wondering what is the min. age to get your tubes tied? Ive seen women around the age of 24. My doctor wouldnt even think of tying my tubes at this age im only 23. Dont take it to heart its just a question. Are the laws different and that is why the younger people are able to have them done or is it a doctors preference or even the patients preference Im not even considering having it done. It was just a ? I had. I think that when menopause comes that is when i will have permanent tubal ligation. I can wait until then lol

I do believe there are state regulations, and also how many children you have. I have a niece who was VERY young when she started having children, 14, and didn't stop until she was 21, and had 4 total. She'd tried having a tubal ligation after the 3rd one, when she was 19, and they wouldn't let her, but they finally did when she had her 4th, when she was 21. This was in Louisiana. It may be different where you live, or if you don't want birth control to be an issue, try getting the Depo Provera Shot, or Norplant. Depo will make you not have a period, and is good for 3 months at a time. Norplant is good for 5 years.
Hope this helped!

I belive that the general "rule" is 25 years of age or 2 babies. I am 23 and had my tubes tide when i was 22. we have a 3 year old daughter and 14 month old twins. It was a decision that we made after i spent a week in the hospital and in labour and my dr told me I would never dialate due to a LEEP that was done earlier and that every delivery would be as hard on me if not harder than the labor or my twins that ended in c-section.
Although after having my tubal i really wish i would have just gone with the shot. my periods are horrible. for the first 6 months after my delivery my periods felt like i was having a miscarage, are never "on time" i can have one for 6 days be off for 15 and go for another 5 days, or like this past cycle i was late according to a 28 day cycle by like 2 weeks, started having all the symptoms of being pregnate and actualy called my dr i did start on friday and by saturday night, i was done.
Ive heard that having a tubal can send you into early menapause. I have started having cravings wierd cravings, and hot flashes I have had to turn the heat off in my bedroom just about every night all week.

Tubal ligations should not be considered at all in my opinion until you are at least 35, or you have had children, and your family is complete.

In my business, too many women find Mr. Right after 35, and decide they want to procreate with the man they love.

As we all get older, we get significantly wiser... I cant tell you how much more I know now, then I did when I was 23.

Doctors give an age requirement, because they also know, that with life, comes circumstances, such as simply deciding to have a child.

It is the doctor's discretion as to whether or not they will take on responsibility of cutting off a young person's ability to have a child.

No disrespect my dear, but you have alot to experience, before you make such a permanent change to your ability to reproduce.

Most doctors will perform a tubaligation after age 21 and after two children. Some insurances are very specific about what they will cover though.

23 is young though. Have you considered an iud? Long term birth control, up to five years with the mirena brand. You might just decide you want another baby in a few years. With the iud, you have great birth control when you need it, but also have the ability to change your mind.

I would say I would get it done after Im 30 years old. Maybe I would wait until im 32 or something-----Im 23 and pregnant with my first I want to have a total of 3-4 kids and I think people that get it done before they turn 25 is way too young.

At 21, you are legally an adult and can make your own medical decisions. If your doctor "wouldn't even think" of doing the procedure for you, and you wanted it, go to another doctor.

And tying your tubes after menopause would be a bit of overkill, since you're no longer ovulating and cannot become pregnant.

Most doctors are unwilling to do it on women under 30, unless there is a medical condition that would warrent the procedure being done. Most women who do have it done before they are 30, usually have a couple of children and are not interested in having more. If you want to have it done, then talk with your doctor and explain your reasons why. If he/she isn't apathetic to your cause, then find another doctor. But, usually, just a short talk will convince most docs. The final decision isstill up to you.

I know in Wisconsin, unless it is medically needed for some reason, most doctors will not do one until you are over 25 or have three kids. I have looked into it for after I have my second baby because my husband and I do not want any more, but I am only 21 and my doctor said no.

with the aid of fact you're saying that's the wellness care professional it is requiring this permission and not enforced via regulation i'd enable the popular public understand that this actual wellness care professional demands permission from a husband for a tubal ligation. positioned the strain on him and according to risk he will replace his tactics. the entire permission subject is previous and ridiculous. What occurs with this wellness care professional for single women persons, does he require a permission slip from a boyfriend, uncertain. This wellness care professional is discriminating against you and different women persons with the aid of fact of marital prestige. He could be stopped. i'd replace medical doctors and rfile him to the disciplinary board.

21 is the legal age for YOU to make your own decisions about your body. Any doctor that tries to sway you from what you want to do with your body should be dropped from the money tree on his head. Find another doctor. If you haven't had any children you should strongly think your decision over, you may not think that you want kids now but things change as we get older.
