Do you still vote for Labour, and if so, why?

Ian T - oh dear, we are showing what 'old labour' was really all about, aren't we.

Ed Snow - forgive me if I haven't got the 'gist' of what you are saying, but , why oh why are you voting for a party that you do not believe in? I have always loathed Labour, but I certainly cannot understand what 'old' Labourites see in the the new party - they are Thatcherites in disguise.

I come from a South Wales family who have been Labour for generations.

Not one of us would vote Labour at the next election.

After working hard and paying taxes for years but falling on a bad patch this year due to illness - being threatened with homelessness when I was 6 months pregnant and basically told to "fcuk off" by the Council, (told that if I couldn't pay my mortgage it was "intentional homelessness" and they wouldn't help me) and refused any help whatsoever and generally treated like crap by those who are supposed to help people in need (all the while immigrants get freebies and benefits galore)

After my Aunt caught MRSA from a routine hospital stay, and I decided I couldn't face having my baby in the University Hospital of Wales because it was so dirty and poorly run (I've been in cleaner pub toilets than that place) - an example of how the NHS has degenerated and the only people today who seem to deserve "clean safe" medical treatment are those rich enough to PAY for it -

my whole family are shocked and disgusted.

Whats that strange noise echoing across Wales?

I believe its the sound of Aneurin Bevan turning in his grave.

As my mum put it

"You wouldn't think there was a Labour Government in power would you?"

The Labour party of old was the only political organ that accommodated the wide range of views we once called " the Left". It allowed a wide range of views under the umbrella of Socialism. Freethinking and radicalism was the norm, and Atheists were commonplace. Now we have "New Labour", a type of soft-centred liberal/tory safe house, where all are welcome, especially the rich, the incompetent, and the inexperienced lightweights. Having developed political correctness to absurd heights, we are now reduced to a nation of wishy - washy indecisive, self centred consumers. Afraid to offend, always counting the potential votes. The "Big Issues" are never floated before the electorate, we still trust our elected betters, while the voices of dissent are ignored. Nearly forgot!! Wars, always wars, always involvement in other peoples business, always justified, always costly, always bloody. I will most likely vote for Labour at the next raffle, if not Green.

I have never voted Labour in my life, and there's no way I ever will. As an avowed anti-communist, it would be hypocritical of me. The sooner the electorate take off their blinkers and vote this corrupt and incompetent bunch of w@nkers out, the better.

The thing is they would have if they could have gotten a bed on the NHS, and not died on route to the nearest hospital opening their doors 150 miles away.

which would have been fine if they hadnt needed to get two trains and three busses, which were all late, to get there.

and as for voting.. i think its tactical, to stop the tory onslaught and selling off of schools and hospitals for good.
