I have always lived by the theory that I do not fall in love just because of gender or because I am "supposed" to. I fall in love with a person and everything that person is so no matter what the persons gender, physical appearance, etc if I made that strong a connection with the person than that supercedes all else. I can not control that nor do I want to.

Yes, because "you" are doing it. There might be people you are attracted to, but to love someone deeply is a definite choice. Some people choose to love people who hurt them. Love starts with an attraction and things in common. You can decide if you want to spend more time with that person or not. Love is not easy and is giving/taking. It is a sacrifice which goes to say that it is a choice. You don't fall in or out of love, but you choose to love.

I have the same situation. Everything you just said is the same thing happen to me. I did everything and was controlling towards my emotions, and unfortunately I pushed him away and never saw him again. I learned that love should not be controlled and should be expressed towards the one you wanna give your heart to.

No, you fall in love with a soul, with a smile, with a kiss... not with anyone that you'd expect to... and no you can't just ignore it... you can pretend to, but that's like asking someone not to breathe, or not to eat... it kills.

I think if you try to control it or try to ignore it you will be miserable. You can choose not to act on it but the results will still be unhappiness.

Love is a feeling that happens between 2 people, so you can not control it, because It needs two people.
