Just Me: Welcome. Yes you will find a lot of ca-ca and a lot of prejudice here. If you persevere you will also find a lot of human kindness, intelligence, wisdom and other great stuff. You might want to try some cyber-stalking. Make a note of persons you've seen give great answers or ask great questions and follow them around a bit. You'll be amazed where that might lead you. Good luck and best wishes.

1. Both
2. A combination of a-c. I also look at people who have given interesting answers to questions that I am looking at, and look at other questions they have already answered (since I assume that they have similar interests as mine), and I also look at their questions. Which leads me to other people who give interesting answers, and so on.

Question 1 - I choose my questions based on both qualifications and interests. I don't like answering things, unless I am confident that I know the right (or in some cases the best) answer. I don't want to give anyone any reason to undermine my intelligence.
Question 2 - D, a combination of all of the above. I look at the Front Page usually, but when there's nothing there that sparks my interest, I tend to search by category. I mainly stick to the categories that I feel like I know the most about.
Great question!

I tend to answer questions of three types.
A. The ones where I'm pretty sure I know the answer, and can get it out quickly.
B. The ones that look interesting, but in a field where I only have background knowledge, so I can do some research for myself, for fun.
C. The ones that strike me funny: if I can add a laugh, so much the better.
I tend to find the questions in all four of the ways you specify.

I search by category, those I am interested in and those for which I might have information to share. I am a wife, mom, and teacher with varied experiences in the workforce. I always check the new page for new questions, too, because I can learn something new, or it leads me to something interesting. Once in a while, I go into a category that is totally new to me....

I search by category and answer if I find the question to be of substance. I just joined this yesterday and I am amazed at how
silly many of the questions are, in addition to many of the questions acting as "bait" to cause arguments. Hopefully this
is not what this site is all about---I was really hoping we could learn from each other.

I look at many questions from several different categories, mostly categories in my interests. Whether I choose to answer them or not depends on if I am knowledgeable about the subject and I think that what I say may help the questioner in any way.
I usually brows the different categories in my interests to find questions I can answer.
