There is no direct evidence. Just countless observations that are consistent with the notion that the speed of light is relatively the same across extremely large length scales.
But, if the Flying Spaghetti Monster is playing tricks on us, altering the speed of light here and there, then we know nothing.

Because the speed of light is a known constant. This is a consequence of the Special Theory of Relativity, which was demonstrated in rather spectacular fashion in August 1945.

Speed of light=3*10^8m/sec
=3*10^5km/sec
Time to travel from star
=1*10^22km/3*10^5km/sec
=.33*10^17sec
24 hrs
=24*3600sec
=86400sec
Hence disproved

Mathematics is proof. The speed of light is 670,616,629.38439513 miles per hour or 186,282.39705122 miles per second. Get out your calculator and figure it out. (There are 3280.83333333 feet in a kilometer, 5280 feet in a mile)
It takes 4.5 years for the light from the nearest star to reach the earth.

Take your distance and divide by the speed of light (APPROX 300,000 KM/sec) and see what the travel time is. It's around 3x10^16 seconds which is many many days.

It takes longer because it's going in circles. You, of all people, should know that.
