Nope, craneflies are completely harmless. The worst they'll do is lay eggs in your lawn that turn into larvae and aerate the ground. They love porchlights, so they can be an ear-buzzing nuisance at night, but they can't bite people.

No, absolutely not. They do not bite. The crainfly is also called a mosquito hawk because it looks sort of like a large mosquito. It lives for a few days as an adult, mates, lays eggs in the ground and dies The eggs hatch into larvae which burrow and eat roots until early spring when it warms enough for them to turn into the flying adults. I was sitting on my front porch one spring evening And I kept seeing movement out of the corner of my eye but when I looked, I really didn't see anything. Finally, I walked over to where I thought I had seen something move and sure enough, adult crainflys emerging from the ground. What I had seen was insects flying up and away.

To those who think fred_bear is right, click his link and read the information. Fred_bear says that the crane fly is the most poisonous, yet the site he links to says that they are not poisonous at all.
The crane fly, of the order Diptera, feed on nectar as adults (some do not eat at all during their adult life) and roots as grubs. These feeding habits do not require venom. The crane fly does not have to kill its food before it eats it.
The insect is completely harmless. It can be a nuisance but it is not going to kill anyone.

Not poisonous, you can eat as many as you wish. They do not bite, but their legs get caught in your teeth!

It's nothing.
It's got a life span of a few days, it flies towards the light and it does nothing. People confuse them with "giant mosquitos" but really they're only as harmful as the lightbulb you have to stare at in order to kill it.
