Normally after surgery, you are placed in a plaster cast for about 8 weeks. Rehab can start by this time usually consisting of range of motion exercises, isometrics for hip, knee and ankle, toe raises, progressive resistance exercises, and strengthening exercises, all supervised. At 12 weeks or so you should be OK. You may return to active sports in about 6 months depending on your doctor's assessment.
