Try this QUICKLY:
STEP 1: Apply an absorbent such as talcum powder or cornstarch to the affected area, then brush away. If the stain is heavy or old, proceed to Step 2; if fresh, skip to Step 3. STEP 2: Place stain facedown on paper towels. Blot back of stain with a dry-cleaning solvent. Replace paper towels as they soak up the stain. STEP 3: Spray with laundry pretreatment. STEP 4: Wash in the hottest water that's safe for the garment. STEP 5: Air dry.
If that above does not work.. buy a one way ticket to China

Start by soaking it in detergent. Dish soap or liquid laundry will do. Then tell your wife. Accidents happen and life goes on. I'm sure your wife won't divorce you over a dirty towel. Besides you are trying and you care enough to know the "good" towels from the ordinary ones. And if it bothers you enough, you can always go out and buy her a new set of "good" hand towels.
Good luck!

Just confess to her, instead of risking more damage to the towel.
I'm sure she knows how to get the stain out.
Pour the laundry detergent on the stain and let it soak for a few minutes and wash in hot water.
I just worked on my mom's car and was able to get all the grease out of my clothes by washing them right away.
The most important thing is not to let the stain set for too long

You could try using Shout. My Shout stick takes a lot of greasy stuff out, and then wash it in the hottest water it will take (if it is cotton and not really colorful (to prevent bleeding of color onto other clothes etc.) you should be able to wash it in hot water. Dawn dish soap may also help break down the grease. I hope this helps!

Grease won't come out of a white towel. Throw that towel away and go get a new one. YOUR IN T R O U B L E .
