I'm trying to email a zip file, but everytime I do, the connection 'times out.' It will be half-way through sending, then just stop completely, saying it was timed out. ("exceeded the time limit" or something like that)
Does anyone have advice or tips on successfully sending ZIPPED files? Or any other way to send a large amount of pictures?

If it is timing out, you are probably trying to send too large of a file. Try dividing the pictures into several smaller zip files.

If you are doing this from inside a business, school, etc., it is possible that they have the firewall sent to block transmission of zip files. Because the firewall has not way of telling what is contained in a zip file, many businesses block them. A "work around" is to change the extension of the file to something harmless like ".txt" and then e-mail the file. Let the other person know so they can rename the file when they get it - back to a ".zip" file.

Best thing for you do is to split your zip file into number of files, then send it one at a time. Actually, if you are zipping pictures - the size will not change usually same size you'll get. Try to check as well the attachment size limit, esp if you are using free email account .

The obvious - make smaller zip files? If you have 10 pictures that you're 'zipping' together, just make 5 different ones
picture1.zip
picture2.zip

The best way to share your pictures is to upload them to photos.yahoo.com or any other photo sharing service and then share it with your friends. I don't know about the 'time out' while sending zipped files. It has never happened to me.
